ABOUT
OUR VALUES
Grace Canine’s training methods are force-free, fear-free, and completely science-based. It is our belief that no dog’s behavior should be changed through the use of fear or compulsion. Through the use of humane, research backed methods, we work together to get behavior change that lasts. It isn’t just our opinion; it’s science.
Science-Based
Positive reinforcement training methods were developed in the 50s, gained an audience in the early 90s, and have continued to gain traction with increasing speed ever since. We know that now more than ever, owners are looking for the most humane and effective way to train their companions. These methods have shown through continued research to provide consistent, reliable, and long lasting results, without the side effects of punishment based training.
Compassionate Care
We love working with dogs, and especially their people. Our training plans address quality of life for the pet, and the people supporting them. We understand that a thorough training plan should leave dogs and people alike feeling heard, supported, and capable in their next steps.
Education
Rebecca is certified through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, and Karen Pryor Academy. We are passionate about continuing to learn how to better care for our people and their companions. We want every client we work with to walk away from each session with more of that passion and knowledge, while also maintaining realistic standards throughout the training process.
No Judgement
Grace Canine’s team will always be judgement free. We understand that most of our pet owners have tried at least one, if not multiple, methods of punishment-based training. Our team will confidently and gently guide you through which methods to avoid, and which to reach for. We are excited to meet you where you are, wherever that is in your training journey.
ABOUT THE OWNER
Rebecca started her career with dogs in 2011. She is a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, Certified Pet Dog Trainer through CCPDT, and Certified Canine Behavior Consultant through IAABC.
Rebecca's passion for animals started young, and her interest in behavior grew drastically after adopting a 2 year old Parson Russell Terrier, Leo, when she was 19. Leo had no intentions of making dog ownership look easy. Leo was sweet, feisty, and incredibly intelligent, but also anxious, impulsive, and fearfully aggressive.
Through Rebecca’s 13 years of experience with Leo(and countless clients), she has continued to grow a passion for dogs with behavioral issues, and especially, the families who so lovingly and selflessly open their homes to them. She has experienced first hand how emotionally draining, and rewarding, owning an anxious dog can be.
It is her greatest desire to come alongside each family and pet to create a greater quality of life for both.
No judgement. No unrealistic standards.
